Counting down to Extra Life 2015

Only a few more days till we kick off the big event!

I first want to thank all the people who’ve donated so far, thanks to you we’re $106/500 for my participation and $1000 for Team Tomb Raider‘s efforts overall. That is amazing! And there’s still time for more. We hope to reach over $3000 between all participants, but if we can hit my $500 goal, I’ll be more than happy!

I have some news, some changes to the original plan. Continue reading Counting down to Extra Life 2015

Halloween 2015 Highlights

This was Halloween!

Another one has come and go, full of cheers, jeers, screams and scares. Children dressed up in scary costumes, “grown children” dressed up in scary costumes and even pets did the same. There were cemeteries, haunted houses, cursed manors and so many more home decorations out there that you could feel the spirits in the air. Continue reading Halloween 2015 Highlights

The Casting Perspective

Last week my dear friend Timlah spoke of the amazing community we found and keep building with blogging and how the act itself helps us come closer to our goals, to build something greater. Recently I’ve found another outlet for my projects, another community to build, one that is sometimes pickier and even hostile compared to the blogosphere.

Of course, I’m talking about broadcasting and livestreams. As you may know, because I’ve mentioned it a few times, I’m now broadcasting Monday to Friday under my LawfulGeek tag, though still very much a part of The Mental Attic.

I had streamed in the past, on and off for about a year or so, but much like the site, I decided to make a bigger push this year, especially with Extra Life on the horizon. I’ve been slowly building up the viewership and follower-base hoping that’ll lead to more donations. But on the way, I’ve discovered how much I enjoy broadcasting and meeting new people in the audience. I’ve had nights where I couldn’t stop laughing when Timlah decided to act as a DJ for my channel and just put on the weirdest songs out there.

But if you’re going to stream, if you’re going to open yourself up to broadcasting, there are things to be aware of, things to consider before you make the leap—or after, if you follow my lead. Continue reading The Casting Perspective

The LawfulGeek Update!

If you follow my nightly broadcasts, you might have noticed a few things. The first it’s that it’s no longer called the Nightcast. Now it’s LawfulGeek. That’s the name I’ve decided on for Twitch streams. For now, I’m still streaming to the KKutlesa account, because I need the current viewer-base for the Extra Life stream coming in a couple of months. But soon after I will be moving permanently to that channel, because Twitch doesn’t allow name changes (they claim it’s because of their databases, but as someone who works with them for a living, I can tell you that is nonsense!). Let’s Play Ys: The Oath in Felghana

I’ve mentioned in the past how much I like the Ys Series. I like the stories, the world and I love the music. So as I’ve been streaming from Monday to Friday, it occurred to me I should play more Ys games and hopefully get more people to play them as well.

So that’s what I did. I started a new Let’s Play, to replace my already finished Stealthy Nicey Jensen run for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and while I take a little break from the Tomb Raider series before I hit the next one, Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. Continue reading Let’s Play Ys: The Oath in Felghana

The Nightcast

As you probably know by now, I’m doing Extra Life in a few months from now. To do that properly I need an audience that’ll come see me play and hopefully donate for this worthy cause. A few weeks ago, I started broadcasting games every night, and I’m still doing it. On one hand, it’s for the Extra Life cause but on the other, broadcasting and live streaming of games is something I love to do. Continue reading The Nightcast

Deus Ex Human Revolution Director’s Cut – Reworked Boss Fights

When Deus Ex Human Revolution first released, there was quite a bit of backlash because of the boss design, forcing you into straight-up shootouts when your build might not be the most Action Star oriented. Thankfully, this “little” issue with the game has now been fixed with the Director’s Cut, released on October 2013, in which all three major boss fights: Barrett, Yelena and Namir have been overhauled, allowing for multiple strategies depending on your build. Dead Space Scarethrough

It’s that time again. Time for you to see me shiver & scream playing horror games. This time we’re playing one of my favourites, Dead Space, the first in the series and the best of the 3 (so far) in terms of horror. Continue reading Dead Space Scarethrough

Grim Dawn Alpha Build Playthrough

So, after buying Grim Dawn and playing around with it, I decided to record a playthrough, not only to show the game and my cool Saboteur character, but also as practice for recording/encoding/uploading for future endeavours. Continue reading Grim Dawn Alpha Build Playthrough
