Around this time last year, I was getting ready for Extra Life, putting together a list of games to play, prizes to give away, conditions for raffle entries and of course, the all-important donation goal. I worked tirelessly on this, getting in touch with game developers for keys, Blue Microphones for a Blue Yeti as grand prize and coordinating with the rest of the Tomb Raider Community Team. For Extra Life 2015, I decided to have a live Dungeons & Dragons session. I’m a big fan of Penny Arcade’s Acquisitions Inc. sessions and I thought it would be nice to do something like that. The only problem was my players were all around the world, making meeting up a bit of a challenge. Thankfully, there’s Roll20.net, perhaps the best online Tabletop RPG platform out there (I interviewed them last year, by the way).
With the platform sorted it was time to get the players. I asked friends and other content producers, and came up with a nice cast for this game: Continue reading Dungeons & Dragons – The Savage Gate
Extra Life is an amazing event bringing together millions of gamers around the world to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, to help them continue their amazing work with children, by doing the things they love the most: playing awesome games. Every year, Extra Life raises millions of dollars from audience contributions to the different streamers that participate.
This year I joined their ranks as part of the amazing Team Tomb Raider Community. Along with the rest of the crew and led by our captain, the lovely Stella, we got our game-on this weekend and played as much as we could. We spoke, laughed and all but begged our audiences to donate to our individual participations while we hopefully entertained them with our virtual exploits. If you follow my nightly broadcasts, you might have noticed a few things. The first it’s that it’s no longer called the Nightcast. Now it’s LawfulGeek. That’s the name I’ve decided on for Twitch streams. For now, I’m still streaming to the KKutlesa account, because I need the current viewer-base for the Extra Life stream coming in a couple of months. But soon after I will be moving permanently to that channel, because Twitch doesn’t allow name changes (they claim it’s because of their databases, but as someone who works with them for a living, I can tell you that is nonsense!). Continue reading The LawfulGeek Update!
Like every other member of the Extra Life Team Tomb Raider Community, I’ve been hard at work preparing everything I’ll need for the event, all four days of my participation. Some still find it strange that I would do it for so long, but I’m a realist and I know I’ll need at least 4 days to get even close to the $500. I hope what you’ll read below will incentivise you to donate some more. Continue reading Extra Life 2015 Update – More Goodies!
As you probably know by now, I’m doing Extra Life in a few months from now. To do that properly I need an audience that’ll come see me play and hopefully donate for this worthy cause. A few weeks ago, I started broadcasting games every night, and I’m still doing it. On one hand, it’s for the Extra Life cause but on the other, broadcasting and live streaming of games is something I love to do. Continue reading The Nightcast
A few weeks ago I announced my participation in this year’s Extra Life, planning to stream for four days, Friday 6th to Monday 9th of November, with the main Extra Life event takin place on the 7th, during which I will mostly be playing Tomb Raider games, as I am part of the Team Tomb Raider Community!
I’m currently hard at work getting the schedule and all the raffles in place, as well as sharpening my hosting skills with my Nightly Twitch Stream. I’m streaming Monday to Friday 8-11pm GMT+1 (which will revert to GMT in October), which is about 3-6pm EST. Continue reading Extra Life 2015: Looking for group!
Last year I was part of another site’s writing staff and through them I had the honour, the pleasure and the privilege of participating in Gameblast 2014, raising money for SpecialEffect, a UK-based organisation that focuses on helping people with disabilities enjoy the world of gaming and in turn helping them through gaming. It was a wonderful experience that left me with the desire to do more. Continue reading Here Comes a New Challenger! – Extra Life 2015
