Gamely Giving’s Gameblast 2017!

SpecialEffect is a UK-based charity organisation which develops custom solutions—software and hardware—to allow people with disabilities to enjoy videogames. I’ve mentioned SpecialEffect in the past, particularly when at an EGX or Rezzed event as they always have a booth present, and I’ve mentioned some of these solutions and how amazing I’ve found them, be it the chin-based controls for Rocket League or the Eye-tracking controls for Minecraft.

SpecialEffect, much like other non-profit organisations with ties to the gaming community, has its annual game-centric fundraising event. It’s called Gameblast and in the past couple of years I’ve had the opportunity and pleasure to do my little bit as part of the Gamely Giving team, comprised of writers from fellow websites, such as GeekOut South-West, Later Levels and the now defunct 1001Up.

Gameblast 2017 took place on the last weekend of February but for several reasons, we couldn’t take part in it, so we’ve decided to hold our own belated Gameblast next week and upping the ante compared to the traditional single-day event. We’ll be broadcasting our charity stream for 72 hours, from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th of April 2017. Continue reading Gamely Giving’s Gameblast 2017!

Rezzed 2017 – Games Higlights – The Best of the Rest

Last day of my Rezzed 2017 coverage, before we return to our normal programming of rants, annoyances and reviews…plus the occasional short story when something bad happens. To recap, this week I spoke of my experience at Rezzed this year, and on Wednesday I told you about the games I saw on the sessions I booked with the Square Enix Collective, Bandai Namco and R8 Games.

Remember I mentioned that I booked few interviews and slots so I could go exploring? Well that’s what today’s about, the fun things I saw on my own at Rezzed 2017. Continue reading Rezzed 2017 – Games Higlights – The Best of the Rest

Rezzed 2017 – Games Highlights – The Booked Sessions

On Monday I spoke of my Rezzed 2017 experience and if there was one thing missing from that piece was perhaps to talk about some of the games I saw. But don’t worry, as I mentioned on Monday, today and Friday will be all about that.

Another thing I mentioned is that I booked very few interviews, three in total, so I could have the time to explore and find games for myself, those hidden gems of Rezzed.

That’s what today is all about, the best of the game I played during my booked sessions with the Square Enix Collective, Bandai-Namco and R8 Games. Continue reading Rezzed 2017 – Games Highlights – The Booked Sessions

Rezzed 2017 – The Experience

This year it was a different Rezzed for me. I couldn’t make it all three days, having only time for the closing and busiest day of the event, Saturday. Because of it I decided not to book many appointments, only settling for three: Square Enix Collective, Bandai Namco and the devs of Formula Fusion. The last one intrigued me despite not being one of my usual genres. Continue reading Rezzed 2017 – The Experience

Videos, Broadcasts and Lawfulness – Back to your Regularly Scheduled Programming

This has been a very long YouTube and Twitch hiatus. I’ve managed to push a few things into YouTube in the past few weeks, but nothing serial or even remotely consistent.

As I mentioned in the past, I have technical difficulties from my Asus ROG Laptop finally reaching its graphical and processing limit, making it not only very hard to play current games but also to record any videos. Even titles that normally run quite well, if on medium settings, will become incredibly sluggish should I dare to open XSplit or some other recording/broadcasting software.

But that’s about to change as I’m getting an Alienware today. It’s massive, it’s powerful and I’ll probably will have to feed it the souls of the corrupt and vile to power it. It’s most certainly going to send my electricity bill to the stratospheric levels, but who cares? It’s well worth it! MCM London Comic Con – Gaming at the Con

I will admit that the amount of games at the MCM London Comic Con surprised me. I really didn’t expect to see so many gaming booths there, or so many people sitting down to play the games. Silly me, really. It’s a geek event so of course there was gonna be a bit for the gamers! Continue reading MCM London Comic Con – Gaming at the Con

MCM London Comic Con – Interview: Tom Mison – Sleepy Hollow

Yesterday I gave you the transcription for the interview with the cast of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and as I promised, today we have the man fronting Sleepy Hollow, Tom Mison.

Before I begin, I will say that Tom is the nicest guy in the world and very funny. He joked around as much as possible during the interview and went quite dark with his humour a few times, particularly when we mentioned that Crane might head to Washington in the next season, as he would love the show to acknowledge Trump’s rise to political power and the dark force that has to be behind it.

Below, much like yesterday you’ll find a transcription of the interview. Instead of going into what he said in detail, I’ll give you the broad strokes of the answers, the meaning if not the actual words. Continue reading MCM London Comic Con – Interview: Tom Mison – Sleepy Hollow

MCM London Comic Con – Interview: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Before the start of Comic Con, the organisers sent the press a link to a registration page for talent interviews. A lot of the actors and personalities had “TBC” on their name so I couldn’t pick them and as for the others, I based my decision on whether I had something I wanted to ask them. Because of that, I decided against interviewing Willa Holland and Katrina Law from Arrow. Same with John Noble, as much a fan as I am of him, I don’t watch Elementary, where he portrays Sherlock Holmes’ dad. I quite dislike the show, in fact. My questions for him would be Fringe related or some of his earlier work, but I felt it would be discourteous to join that interview group when I didn’t know anything about his current work.

The ones I did pick, as I mentioned yesterday, were for the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Sleepy Hollow.

For Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., we had four actors present at comic con: Continue reading MCM London Comic Con – Interview: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

LawfulGeek Plays Rescheduling!

For the past few months, I’ve been pumping out videos for a series of Let’s Play videos I like to call LawfulGeek Plays. I’ve run these episodes in various formats and schedules, the latest one being a Monday to Friday schedule with three episodes per day, one for the games I’ve been playing.

For the past couple of weeks I haven’t had any episodes, as I’ve just moved to another country and I’m not in my own place with the proper internet to upload them in bulk. But the break has given me time to think and I’ve realised that the schedule I have right now isn’t working. It’s not attracting more viewers and it’s very time-consuming for me, as I need to record dozens of episodes ahead of time to keep up to date. As much as I love recording and playing the games, it does cut into the time I need for other projects, considerably so. Continue reading LawfulGeek Plays Rescheduling!

Back in a Jiffy!

For the past few months, I’ve been streaming to my LawfulGeek Twitch channel, after finally moving from my original one. I worked with an artist to get things looking perfectly and slowly worked towards growing the channel…with not much success, though I don’t let that stop me from broadcasting as I really enjoy it.
