For the past few months, I’ve been pumping out videos for a series of Let’s Play videos I like to call LawfulGeek Plays. I’ve run these episodes in various formats and schedules, the latest one being a Monday to Friday schedule with three episodes per day, one for the games I’ve been playing.
For the past couple of weeks I haven’t had any episodes, as I’ve just moved to another country and I’m not in my own place with the proper internet to upload them in bulk. But the break has given me time to think and I’ve realised that the schedule I have right now isn’t working. It’s not attracting more viewers and it’s very time-consuming for me, as I need to record dozens of episodes ahead of time to keep up to date. As much as I love recording and playing the games, it does cut into the time I need for other projects, considerably so.
On the viewer front, it’s a barrage of videos a day that sometimes is hard to track even for me, particularly if I’m running other videos, such as preview or playthrough videos that go with an article. Because of that, I’ve decided to switch it up a bit now. When the LawfulGeek Plays series resume, they’ll run Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. Each day will focus on one game series, but will have two episodes, published at 12pm GMT (7am EST or 4am PST) and 5pm GMT (12pm GMT or 9am PST).
Right now and based on the current set of games this is how it’d look:
In addition to this, every Saturday I’ll run an article through The Mental Attic with the compilation of all videos published during the week, so if you missed them on their day, you’ll have them right here every Saturday.
What do you think? Is there anything you’d change to this schedule, maybe spread the two episodes per series around a bit? At first, I considered having an episode every two days, so for example, Darksiders would have one episode on Wednesday and another on Friday. But in the end it felt a bit too complicated.
Let me know in the comments what you think!
