Final Fantasy IV – Episode 6 – Plot Mountain

Whoo boy was that an eventful Final Fantasy IV episode last week! Made it through the mountains, met a monk, killed bombs and their mothers and mounted a pathetic and futile defence against the Baron Red Wings in Fabul.

Kain turned heel on us and tried to kill Cecil, and we finally saw the big baddie Golbez take the stage, his sombre presence as awesome now as it was the first time I played the game. This isn’t a mocking, taunting Final Fantasy enemy, this is one that takes care of business, or at least sets one of his trusted generals to do it for him. Final Fantasy IV – Episode 5 – Fabul-ous!

Last time on Final Fantasy IV we explored the Antlion cave, fought the big monster in its lair and collected the Desert Pearl for Rosa, healing her and finally getting a proper healer for the party. But of course, it wasn’t that easy, not with the Antlion hitting like a freight train and me hitting it when set to counterattack.

But a bit of exploration, a new weapon and a save point later, the party had all they needed to take down the beastie! Continue reading Final Fantasy IV – Episode 5 – Fabul-ous!

Final Fantasy IV – Episode 4 – Exploration is Good!

And we’re back with another weekly episode of Final Fantasy IV.

Last time around, in Episode 3 of Final Fantasy IV, we finally made our way through to Damcyan where we found the castle under attack by Baron’s Red Wings, there to take yet another Crystal for their mad King. Inside the castle we found Anna, Tellah’s daughter, but she passed away soon after. Tellah tries to take out his frustrations on his son in law, the Damcyan Prince and Bard, Edward, but soon his attention shifts to the real menace, the man they call Golbez. With vengeance on his mind and fire in his eyes, Tellah storms out in pursuit of Golbez, leaving our party without its powerful spellcaster.

Later in the episode, Edward joins up and we explore the Antlion nest and upon reaching the heart, we found the Antlion isn’t as docile as Edward claims and the new boss kicks our butt with finesse. Continue reading Final Fantasy IV – Episode 4 – Exploration is Good!

Final Fantasy IV – Episode 3 – 90s Nickelodeon

Last Final Fantasy IV episode of 2016!

In Episode 2, not much happened, since we spent most of the time just trying to survive (or more accurately, kept dying my way out of the cave), until we found the sacred Ether, recharged Tellah’s magic and finally escaped to where a Tent was waiting for us. With the party healed and recharged, it was time to brave the aqueduct again and clear it! Continue reading Final Fantasy IV – Episode 3 – 90s Nickelodeon

Final Fantasy IV – Episode 2

Last week had a lot going on in the first Final Fantasy IV episode. Departed from Baron, blew up Mist, rescued the little girl summoner, Rydia and even made it to Kaipo, only to discover that Rosa had somehow made it there as well, in record time and with desert fever!

So that’s where we are in this episode, going through the Aqueduct towards Damcyan, to get the Sand Pearl, the only medicine in the world that can save Cecil’s beloved White Mage. Continue reading Final Fantasy IV – Episode 2

Final Fantasy IV – Episode 1 – Brood Knight

It’s been a while since I recorded a playthrough with commentary, aka a Let’s Play. But with the release of Final Fantasy XV and especially because of its promise to be accessible for both veterans and newcomers to the series, I decided it would be cool to maybe show those newcomers the entries in the Final Fantasy series that have now become classics.

I could have gone for the original version of the game, on Super Nintendo through my Wii U’s virtual console, but considering just how good the DS (and now Steam) version is, I decided to use this one for the Final Fantasy IV playthrough. On Recording & Broadcasting

In the past few months I’ve worked harder on the YouTube videos and the effort has paid off somewhat with new subscribers, comments and views on the channel. Still nothing to write home about, but it’s an improvement and one desperately needed. There were times were I wondered why I was still wasting my time don this stuff, and then someone made a nice comment or subscribed and I had a sudden jolt of endorphin for a job well done.

But recently, last week in fact, I came upon a realisation and that is that sometimes recording a game, or continue to record them is not worth the trouble. As much as I love Assassin’s Creed II, no one really cared about that series, and last week I noticed that after 42 episodes, I had only 4 minutes viewed between all of them, and three of those minutes were from an episode months ago. It’s because of this that I’ve decided to move away from this playthrough. It’s proven to be something the audience doesn’t care about, and so to keep pushing on with it is just pointless.  Continue reading On Recording & Broadcasting

Tomb Raider: Anniversary Death Comp

And so we’re back with another compilation, this time on Tomb Raider: Anniversary.

I have to admit my surprise when I tallied up the deaths and found the number smaller than those in Tomb Raider: Underworld. It was a pleasant surprise, even more because in hour-long episodes, the first death often happened after more than 20 or 30 minutes had passed, meaning that for most of the series, I had a pretty damn cool undefeated run. Then I crash and burn as you’d expect. Continue reading Tomb Raider: Anniversary Death Comp

Tales of Zestiria – It’s a Wrap!

Tales of Zestira is finally done!

After 8 months, 110 episodes—and many more I either deleted accidentally or lost due to file corruption—and hours of footage, the game is finally done and I’m very proud of it. What started as a regular playthrough of a massively long game ended up being the first game I created custom thumbnails for and now at the end it’s the first of the LawfulGeek plays series to have extensive video editing done on them. Continue reading Tales of Zestiria – It’s a Wrap!

One Year of Gaming and Back to Raiding

Last year, around March, I started what would become the first playthrough of what I now call LawfulGeek Plays. It was Tomb Raider: Underworld and it was the first game in a plan to play through the entire classic series—starring the original Lara Croft that is—in reverse order, starting with Underworld and ending with the original 1996 Tomb Raider.
