In the past I’ve mentioned my adoration for the Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem crossover RPG on the Nintendo Wii U, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. The music is phenomenal, the story is great and it’s an entertaining RPG with a truly enjoyable combat system. Continue reading Musical Narrative – My Favourite Songs in Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE

Preview – Felix the Reaper
Being DEATH must be an interesting line of business. Making sure people meet their maker, or you, at their appointed time to keep the cosmic wheels turning properly. We’re used to seeing DEATH as this grim figure, as serious in his demeanour as his task entails, though if Terry Pratchett is to be taken as a guide, DEATH will have a biting wit and a knack for sarcasm.
But what if DEATH enjoyed his job, put a little soul into it and danced his way to your grave? That’s exactly what the in-development Felix the Reaper has for us, a boogieing, pumping Grim Reaper, enjoying some sweet tunes while he arranges the cosmic forces to make sure someone bites the dust! Review: Beat the Game
You find yourself in the desert, full of strange creatures, floating orbs and cubes. There’s a literal sandman surfing around the area and monoliths in the distance. In the face of this bizarreness, what can you do? Simple, put on the most kickass rave you can! This is Beat the Game.

Gaming Q&A – April 2017 – Best Easter Egg
You know me, I’m always up for a good discussion, no matter if it’s games, films, TV series or even books and writing. So, when the crew of Later Levels approached me for a monthly gaming Q&A, hopefully to create some great debates around video games, it didn’t take much for me to see that it could be fun.
Every month, I’ll present you with the question and my answer. If you’d like to join, get in touch with Later Levels. The rules are simple, in fact there is only one to note: your answer must be in 100 words or fewer. Continue reading Gaming Q&A – April 2017 – Best Easter Egg

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Emotional Issues
Miracle of Sound’s gaming inspired songs are some of my favourite things to listen and watch on YouTube. I’ve bought his records in the past and even dished out cash for a single song, that being the Borderlands 2 inspired “Breaking Down the Borders.”
Most of the time I’m just listening to the song, reading the lyrics and not paying much attention to the footage used in the music video, often cuts of official trailers and gameplay videos. But with “The Natural Heart,” the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided song, the footage kept drawing me in, engendering a response in me along with the fantastic lyrics and music. Best JRPGs – Xenoblade Chronicles X and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
In the past I’ve spoken about JRPGs, the things I like but most importantly, the flaws in the genre, because whilst the name just means Japanese-RPGs, it has enough tropes and stylistic differences that we can consider it a completely different genre. Many of these tropes form the basis of all RPG Video Games, as many developers and designers grew up with games such as the original Final Fantasy.
Right now, I’m playing through two JRPGs that I now think might be two of the best RPGS in the world. The first is one I’ve mentioned in the past, Xenoblade Chronicles X, which I had to restart because I forgot to copy the save file when I deleted my old WiiU account and created a new one (they’re region-locked, so my Irish one didn’t work here). And the second is the wonderful Shin Megami Tensei & Fire Emblem Crossover, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE. Continue reading Best JRPGs – Xenoblade Chronicles X and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
Review: Conga Master
There is an ancient order of party-men, those with music in their bodies and rhythm in their souls. They go from club to club, party zone to dance floor, infecting everyone with their passion, until they can’t resist and join him in his reverie. These are the Conga Masters!

Beautiful Stories – Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso
I’m a sucker for romance. I’m not ashamed to say it. I’m a romantic at heart and I have a thing for romance stories, but they have to be good ones. Trashy romance novels with shirtless men on the cover won’t interest me for even a minute, nor do I enjoy those forced, obsessive and frankly insane romance stories Stephanie Meyer spawned into the world.
But you give me a good romance, one that feels natural and organic, and you’ll hook me. Continue reading Beautiful Stories – Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso
Fiction Challenge – Song Story Version 2
First of all, happy new year!
To kick off the year, and considering there have been no submissions for the Writing Challenge, I’m extending the time limit and making some changes. I realised as the weeks went by that the challenge was too restrictive and there wasn’t enough time and I didn’t explain a few things that I should, so here’s what’s going on: Continue reading Fiction Challenge – Song Story Version 2
