The Weekly Puzzle – Boxed to the Stars

Puzzles are at the core of Adventure gameplay, they provide challenges for you to overcome with brains rather than brawn. For Action Adventures, they offer a break from the hacky-slashy-stabby-shooty element of title.

Every week I’ll bring you a new puzzle, drawn from some of the best and worst adventure or puzzle games I’ve ever played. Every once in a while I’ll even leave you one of my own for you to solve. If you do, I’ll find a way to reward you!

This puzzle is from a fantastic adventure game series I discovered early this year during Rezzed, The Room. In the first title of the series, you progress through the game solving increasingly complex puzzle boxes, each furthering your quest towards the NULL element. The Nightcast

As you probably know by now, I’m doing Extra Life in a few months from now. To do that properly I need an audience that’ll come see me play and hopefully donate for this worthy cause. A few weeks ago, I started broadcasting games every night, and I’m still doing it. On one hand, it’s for the Extra Life cause but on the other, broadcasting and live streaming of games is something I love to do. Continue reading The Nightcast

The Weekly Puzzle – Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey…Swamp!

Every week I’ll bring you a new puzzle, drawn from some of the best and worst adventure or puzzle games I’ve ever played. Every once in a while I’ll even leave you one of my own for you to solve. If you do, I’ll find a way to reward you! This week has a new riddle, just for you!

“He’s old and patient, always moving but never wandering. He’s rough, has seen all branches of life and will share the fruits of it with you if you wait long enough.” Continue reading The Weekly Puzzle – Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey…Swamp!

Let’s Play Classic Tomb Raider: Chronicles

I know, it’s been a while, but since launching my weekly stream, it’s been difficult to also record these videos. But I’m finally back and now let’s start with Tomb Raider Chronicles, the next to last game Core Design ever made and one of the greatest cash-grab titles to grace the world with its presence. It’s set right after The Last Revelation. Lara’s presumed dead and her friends and family (only 3 of them apparently) gather around the fire with a lot of alcohol and reminisce about some of her earlier adventures.

This is an older game, as such it’s complicated to play it on modern PCs, and often it’ll crash. You’ll see in the first episode, just how many problems I have playing it. Some of it is the lack of autosave which I once again forget about.

Also, this game makes very little sense. Continue reading Let’s Play Classic Tomb Raider: Chronicles

The Weekly Puzzle – Thou Art Chosen!

For this week’s puzzle, I’m digging something out of the Sierra bag of goodies again, a nice puzzle from Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers, a game that’s already been in The Weekly Puzzle before. But that’s the thing about the classics, isn’t it? There’s always a reason to come back to them. Continue reading The Weekly Puzzle – Thou Art Chosen!

Extra Life 2015: Looking for group!

A few weeks ago I announced my participation in this year’s Extra Life, planning to stream for four days, Friday 6th to Monday 9th of November, with the main Extra Life event takin place on the 7th, during which I will mostly be playing Tomb Raider games, as I am part of the Team Tomb Raider Community!

I’m currently hard at work getting the schedule and all the raffles in place, as well as sharpening my hosting skills with my Nightly Twitch Stream. I’m streaming Monday to Friday 8-11pm GMT+1 (which will revert to GMT in October), which is about 3-6pm EST. Continue reading Extra Life 2015: Looking for group!

Novel Games – The Dresden Files

There are many games out there with worlds based on works of fiction. From The Witcher games, based off Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, to the Sherlock Holmes titles and even such adaptations as American McGee’s Alice.

Novel adaptations as games have become a common thing, sometimes more prolific than even film tie-ins, offering a deeper and more compelling experience than those. Novel-based games often have a thoroughly crafted universe to draw from in terms of plot, characters and gameplay design options.

Last time we took a short at Simon R. Green’s Nightside. For this second issue we’ll look at another popular Urban Fantasy series, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. You will see that while their fiction genre is the same, the two would be completely different as games! Continue reading Novel Games – The Dresden Files
