Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Gaming Q&A – March 2017 – Best Soundtrack

You know me, I’m always up for a good discussion, no matter if it’s games, films, TV series or even books and writing. So, when the crew of Later Levels approached me for a monthly gaming Q&A, hopefully to create some great debates around video games, it didn’t take much for me to see that it could be fun.

Every month, I’ll present you with the question and my answer. If you’d like to join, get in touch with Later Levels. The rules are simple, in fact there is only one to note: your answer must be in 100 words or fewer.

This month’s question is:

What’s the best Video Game Soundtrack?

This is my answer: Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

This might be the video game soundtrack I’ve listened to the most in my life, and one of the very few I have on my PC to listen to. What I love about Dreamfall’s soundtrack is how emotional the music is, how strong the melodies are in conveying emotion, particularly wonder, awe and surprisingly, dread.

From the beautiful Casablanca and the nefarious Jiva corporation to the wondrous music of Marcuria and the lonely and haunting theme for Faith, this soundtrack grabs your heartstrings and doesn’t let go until you press “Stop” on the media player.

That’s it for my answer. What do you think? Did you love this soundtrack as much as I did? Or did another game’s music bring you to tears? Let me know in the comments and don’t forget to check out Later Levels on Friday for their answer!

I love everything readable, writeable, playable and of course, edible! I search for happiness, or Pizza, because it's pretty much the same thing! I write and ramble on The Mental Attic and broadcast on my Twitch channel, TheLawfulGeek
