Last Friday I had to go out of town for a business dinner, so I couldn’t broadcast a Gunpla build on Twitch, which has become something of a routine in the past few weeks. But as I am a creature of habit I decided to do the build on my own anyway and just record it.
This model is for Gundam Exia from the series Mobile Suit Gundam 00, the first Gundam piloted by Celestial Being’s Gundam Meister, Setsuna F. Seiei. Gundam 00 is up there with one of my favourite series and I had trouble decided between this unit and the 00 Gundam.
The model itself is pretty nice, though I have a couple of issue with it, the first being the flimsiness of the GN drive part. The parts barely hold together and fall apart constantly. It’s a piece I think needs some glue just so you can manipulate it as much as you need.
The hands have some issues to clip on the hilts of the swords and gun, the slot is too small and you end up fiddling way too much with it.
Also, this is the first model I’ve build where I look into the face of the Gundam and feel it’s too small, in terms of proportions, compared to those of the original. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel it’s slightly off.
Finally, and this is not a bad thing just weird. To match the design of Gundam Exia, which has some purple cables to help direct the GN Drive’s energy throughout its system, this model includes flexible purple rubber parts that completely threw me off!
