And so we’re back with another compilation, this time on Tomb Raider: Anniversary.
I have to admit my surprise when I tallied up the deaths and found the number smaller than those in Tomb Raider: Underworld. It was a pleasant surprise, even more because in hour-long episodes, the first death often happened after more than 20 or 30 minutes had passed, meaning that for most of the series, I had a pretty damn cool undefeated run. Then I crash and burn as you’d expect.
Most of the deaths, the bulk of them in fact, happen during the Temple of Khamoon stage, but this one has some of the most complex traps and platforming in the game, often with deadly drops and blade traps there just to screw with your day—also those damn panthers. But I have to admit my favourite death is number 35, where I just get slammed by sliding wall traps. There’s a satisfying yet disturbing crunch to them that I just simply enjoy!
Next time it’ll be Tomb Raider: Legend, then Angel of Darkness, Chronicles and then The Last Revelation, where I predict the death count will be in the hundreds. 400 is my current estimate, and that’s just up to the fourth episode. I kid, but it will be very high, even considering there are a couple of episodes I had to cut and splice just to take out around ten minutes of back-to-back painful deaths. I’ll make sure to add them to the count in some way or another.
Well, that was it for now, enjoy this new death compilation! And if you want to see where it came from, hit the videos above for the full playthrough!
